As South Africans gear up for their annual Easter Holidays under an increased economic downturn, ridesharing startup, CarTrip says sharing travelling costs through carpooling is a great way to ease the financial burden of travel.
CarTrip founder, Chris Faure noted that many South Africans travel by road alone to visit family over this time, who often live as far as 900kms away. “Public transport over peak times can be dangerous and cause serious delays in your travel time. Using a platform like CarTrip to match yourself with passengers going in the same direction as you, is a great way to split the costs of your travel, whilst avoiding the hassle of a slow, crowded bus.”
By taking along another 3 people, Faure estimates a saving of approximately R 1 200 on a 500km roadtrip.
With roads such as the scenic Route 62, between Cape Town and Oudtshoorn being named by CNN Travel as the world’s best road trip destination, there is no excuse to not explore our country over this break!
